Fantasy Impact of Recent CBS Mock Draft

I decided to take the latest 1st round mock draft from CBS Sports found here  and evaluate the fantasy impact that these landing spots will have on each player.

At number 1 overall, Cleveland takes DeShone Kizer, QB, Norte Dame. For me, this landing spot paired with where the other QBs fell in this mock, cements Kizer as the number one fantasy QB. There is no competition in Cleveland at the QB position and Kizer would most likely start out of the gate.

Devy Week 6 Top Prospects Recap

Here is the week 6 statistical recap of the top devy prospects.

It was a great week for Samaje Perine, James Washington, Jake Browning, Alvin Kamara and many others.

Both Stanford and Notre Dame played poorly this week which led to Equanimeous St. Brown and Christian McCaffrey having poor statistical weeks.

The weather in the south east had a major effect on some games and led to the LSU vs Florida game to be cancelled.

Here is the recap:

Devy Week 4 Top Prospects Recap

It has now been 4 weeks of college football. Here is this weeks statistical recap of the top devy players. My top performers this week are Dalvin Cook and Jacques Patrick. I am eager to watch the tape from this game as Cook and company seemed rather pedestrian against Louisville last week. I also thought Josh Rosen played his best game of the season thus far, in a loss against Stanford and again, I think he has been on my list every week so far, but Equanimeous St. Brown is the real deal people. I was not impressed with Jacob Eason and Jordan Villamin.

As always, who impressed? Who disappointed? Let me know your thoughts!

Week 4 Top Prospects Recap:

I am a little late with this but with week 3 of the college football season in the books. Here is the week 3 statistical recap of the top devy names in the game. My top week 3 performers were James Washington (OKST), Equan. St. Brown, N'Keal Henry, Christian McCaffrey, and Donnel Pumphrey. Also, this week I was pretty let down by Clemson, Florida State, Semaje Perine, and Jalen Hurd.

Week 3 What to Watch

9/17/16 at Noon. Florida State at Louisville.

This is the game I am looking most forward to seeing this week and there are some good ones this week! There are a ton of NFL prospects to watch in this one.

Louisville is led by Lamar Jackson. We will finally get to see if Jackson can keep up is Heisman Trophy campaign against arguably the best team he will face in 2016. Through two games, Jackson is leading the Cardinals in passing yards as well as rushing yards. Louisville also has Jamari Staples. Staples is the leading receiver for the Cardinals and is Jackson's favorite target down the field.

Devy Week 2 Top Prospect Recap

Week 2 of the college football season has come to an end. Here is the week 2 statistical recap of the top devy names in the game. A couple top devy prospect did not play this week as Leonard Fournette sat out and Derrius Guice started in his place and Greg Ward Jr. did not play for Houston. In addition, a handful of prospects got injured this week and it is something to monitor going forward with Simmie Cobbs and DK Metcalf.  My top performers for week 2 include Derrius Guice, Lamar Jackson, Kalen Ballage, Courtland Sutton, Corey Davis and Saquon Barkley. My biggest let downs this week were Cooper Kupp, Brad Kaaya, Josh Rosen and OJ Howard.

Who surprised you? Who went off this week that you were impressed with? Who let you down this week? or for a second consecutive week?

Lets hear your thoughts! As always let me know if I missed anyone as there are a whole lot of box scores to sort through and I may have glanced over someone who needs to be listed or at least mentioned.

Week 2 Top Prospects Recap:

Jacob Eason to Start

Jacob Eason, Georgia's freshman QB, will get his first career start in week 2 against Nicholls State University. Eason is the future of the quarterback position at Georgia. He is the first freshman quarterback to start for Georgia since Matt Stafford. The passing game in Georgia really isn't going to be a concern as Georgia will lean on their running back group.

Fellow rookie, running back Elijah Holyfield, should make his debut. Holyfield was dealing with a foot injury last week that kept him out against North Carolina.

Devy Rankings Update

Overall devy rankings and QB rankings have been updated 9/5/16 following week 1. I will adjust WR and RB rankings to match the changes made in the overall rankings. Big risers for me were Mike Williams, Joe Mixon, Equan. St. Brown, Luke Falk and Cooper Kupp. On the other hand, Juju Smith, Tyrie Cleveland, Derrius Guice dropped in my rankings. In addition, Samaje Perine, Mack Hollins, Trent Irwin, James Washington and Jordan Villamin are all players that I am hoping will have better weeks ahead of them before I consider dropping them slightly in my rankings.

Elijah Holyfield

Elijah Holyfield, RB, UGA: Holyfield currently has an ADP in the early 30s. Meaning in a standard league he is getting taken in the beginning of the 3rd round of a startup devy draft or, if you are in a current devy league that allows more than 1 round of devy players, there is a good chance he is going much earlier than the third round. In a recent startup, that allowed 2 copies of each player, I selected Holyfield at the top of the second round at 2.02 and the second copy of Holyfield went at 2.09. I am slightly higher on Holyfield than his ADP in the early 30s. Holyfield has been slowly creeping up the draft board this summer. In July, on DLF, he went undrafted in one of their ADP devy drafts, which is about 50 picks. So his perceived value has definitely increased and I think it's going to skyrocket sooner rather than later for several reasons. This may be your only time to buy Holyfield at a decent price before he catapults to the top of the devy rankings.

Cal vs. Hawaii (Carlos Strickland)

The college football season kicks off 10pm eastern on August 26th. California will play Hawaii in Australia. Many college football fans will watch this game as it is the kickoff of a new season. For you fellow fantasy football developmental league owners there isn’t much to watch in this game.

About a week ago, the player I was most looking forward to watch in this game, #85 WR Carlos Strickland, announced his plans to transfer from Cal. Strickland is worth keeping an eye on but he will have to sit out the 2016 season after missing most of 2015 due to injury. He will have three seasons of eligibility beginning in 2017. Strickland has yet to declare where he will transfer.

Devy IDP Rankings

Just put out my Devy IDP Rankings check it out here. At the top of the list is Myles Garrett from Texas A&M. Also went Linebacker heavy at the top of the list as 7 out of the top ten are LB or a LB/DE hybrid.

Myles Garrett is the top-ranked defensive end heading into his junior year at Texas A&M, and is a good bet to be the number 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Garret has a personal goal of 20 sacks this season so it will be fun to see if he gets there!

Get ready for the hype to be off the charts. Jabrill Peppers is probably the biggest riser on my IDP rankings. He’s going to work at linebacker, he’s got the speed to be a corner, and he’s an NFL dream safety with 6-1, 208-pound size and perennial Pro Bowl upside. This versatility can give him the production of a Deone Bucannon.

Check out the rest of my IDP rankings! And look for more IDP Profiles down the road.

Definition:  A devy league is a unique form of a dynasty league in which owners are allowed to draft and roster developmental players (“devys"). These developmental players are most often college players, although some leagues even make current high school players available to be drafted.
