Equanimeous St. Brown has had a great start to 2016 after suffering a shoulder injury last season that only allowed him to have one catch before missing the entire season. St. Brown has all the physical traits needed for a wide receiver in the NFL. He is a big wide out at 6-4, and he plays physical and is willing to sacrifice his body to make the reception.  St. Brown has the ability to catch the ball in traffic or near traffic but also can break out of or away from that traffic. He does that here against Syracuse over the middle as he runs through a group of 3-4 Syracuse defenders.

He also does the same thing against Nevada as he runs away from 4 or 5 defenders.

St. Brown tracks the ball well through the air and has a very large catch radius. He has good hands that allow him to win on contested balls and he rarely drops a pass. Here is an example of him extending to make a ridiculous catch but then also having the ability to hold onto the ball while taking the hit.

A very fluid athlete, St. Brown shows the ability to change direction well and has good feet.  To my knowledge, there is no tape on Draft Breakdown of St. Brown. I was able to find some video of a couple of his catches against Texas. You can see on his first touchdown catch that he has great hands and a good ability to go up and get the ball. He also has the body control to turn his body while he is in the air in order to make sure he can get his foot down in bounds for the catch. The second touchdown is the play I highlighted earlier in which he extends outside of his reach to catch the ball away from his body with his hands.

St. Brown is a big play wide receiver.  Six of his 25 catches have gone for a touchdown and 9 out of those 25 have been catches for over 25 yards. He has also drawn numerous pass interference calls stretching the field as most of his catches, 4-6 a game, are over the top of the defense.

St. Brown also is a pretty good run blocker, thus far. In watching DeShone Kizer, I have noticed that St. Brown is typically springing Kizer with a block or two down the field. The Notre Dame coaching staff has always been impressed with St. Brown for his speed and route running. He will get another year at Notre Dame to fine tune all of traits.

St. Brown is a great athlete as evidence from some of the plays he has made. He is one of my favorite devy prospects. Notre Dame has put out some pretty good wide receivers in Golden Tate, Michael Floyd and Will Fuller. Equanimeous St. Brown is on the fast track to be the next top wide out from South Bend. He is currently my top wide receiver for the 2018 draft class.
