Amba Etta-Tawo is graduate transfer at Syracuse. He played previously at Maryland before exploding onto the scene in Syracuse for his senior season. Etta-Tawo has set the Syracuse single-game receiving record with 270 yards and two touchdowns against the Huskies.

Over the course of 4 games this season, Etta-Tawo is averaging 176.5 yards per game. He is also leading college football in receiving with 706 yards.  Etta-Tawo has 4.4 speed. The Syracuse offense takes advantage of his speed as most of his catches are on deep routes over the top of the defense or short screen and slants. Etta-Tawo uses his speed to separate from defenders. He also has a good ability to go up and get the ball. More and more the Syracuse quarterback is just throwing the ball up and giving Etta-Tawo a chance to come down with the catch.

Etta-Tawo catches the ball pretty well in traffic. There are multiple times in both the UCONN game and the Louisville game where Etta-Tawo catches the ball surrounded by defenders or in double coverage. He also seems to be quite hard to tackle. Etta-Tawo uses his speed to gain yards after the catch.  Strong hands allow him to win on contested balls and from what I have seen he doesn’t have any bad dropped passes. Fluid for his size, he shows the ability to change direction well and has good feet. Etta-Tawo also has the ability to come to a complete stop and then quickly get moving again.

The knock on Etta-Tawo is that he is literally bursting onto the scene at Syracuse out of nowhere and probably has Maryland wondering where this has been the past 3 years. This type of breakout is very similar to Kevin White at West Virginia a few years ago. Amba Etta-Tawo has been added to the 2016 Biletnikoff Award Watch List for the top wide receiver in college football. If Etta-Tawo continues at this pace his draft stock will be one worth monitoring. Etta-Tawo should get a little bit more exposure as Syracuse will play Notre Dame on October 1st.
