James Washington’s best trait is his ball skills and tracking the football deep down the field. According to Rotoworld, Washington led the nation last season with four 70-plus yard catches and he also ranked tenth in the FBS with 20.5 yards per catch last year. This was on display from the very first play of his last game against Pitt on a 91 yard touchdown. He ended up going 9/296/2

If you haven’t already been following Washington then you might think that his one game against Pitt has really skewed his stats and performance on the field. However, Washington really hadn’t been featured in the Oklahoma State offense until last weekend against Pitt. He was targeted 17 times in that game and this is something that should continue if Oklahoma State wants to be successful. Furthermore, this week Oklahoma State plays against Baylor, a high powered offense, in which Oklahoma State will have to feature Washington for a second straight week.

Washington does a pretty good job winning at the line of scrimmage against press man coverage. He is also does well in contested situations. You can see this in the Pitt game. He makes catches with defenders hanging on and pulling him. He does a very good job at high pointing the football to make the catch. Washington also has very good hands that allow him to make some spectacular catches.

Rotoworld recently posted an article from Draft Insider's Tony Pauline that said NFL sources "expect" Oklahoma State junior WR James Washington to enter the draft "if he continues [at] this pace." Of course, this was said after he put up nearly 300 yards and I’m not sure that he keeps up that pace. However, if Washington is to enter the NFL draft I think he is a first round talent.

Now there isn’t much tape on Draft Breakdown so I’m going to go ahead and post is highlight reel from last season to give you an idea of how explosive and dynamic James Washington really is.
